√ Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

16 servings

  1. 3/4 cup butter, cubed
  2. 4 cup apples, peeled and chopped
  3. 2 cup sugar
  4. 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  5. 3 tsp gr. cinnamon
  6. 2 tsp vanilla
  7. 6 eggs
  8. 2 1/2 cup milk
  9. 1 1/2 cup sugar
  10. 2 tbsp sugar
  11. 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  12. 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  13. 1 dash nutmeg
  14. 1 loaf French bread cubed
  15. 1 cup sugar
  16. 1/4 cup water
  17. 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  18. 2 tbsp butter

Steps

1 hour

  1. Preheat oven 350*  
  2. In large skillet, heat butter over medium heat.  
  3. Add apples, sugar, walnuts, and cinnamon; bring just to boil, stirring constantly.  
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until apples are tender; stirring occasionally.  
  5. Remove from heat; stir in 2 tsp vanilla.  
  6. For bread pudding, in large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, 1.5 cups sugar, cream, 1.5 tsp vanilla, and nutmeg until blended.  
  7. Stir in bread cubes and apple mixture.  
  8. Transfer to greased 13×9 in. baking dish.  
  9. Sprinkle with 2 Tbsp sugar.  
  10. Bake, uncovered, 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.  
  11. For caramel sauce, in a small heavy sauce pan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water; stir gently to moisten all the sugar.  
  12. Cook over med-low heat, gently swirling pan occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved.  
  13. Cover; bring to boil over medium-high heat for 1 minutes.  
  14. Uncover pan; continue to boil until syrup turns a medium amber color.  
  15. Immediately remove from heat and carefully stir in 1 cup cream and 2 Tbsp butter.  
  16. Serve caramel sauce over warm bread pudding.
