√ Texas toast Bread Recipe

Ingredients

4 servings

  1. 1 cup milk
  2. 1/4 cup sugar
  3. 3 large eggs, (beaten)
  4. 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  5. 4 tsp (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  6. 8 thick slices white bread ( about three-quarters of a white sandwich or Pullman loaf, cut into 3/4 inch slices)
  7. 1 pure maple syrup, warmed, for serving Strawberries, for serving ( optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 200° Fit a wire rack on a baking sheet and place in the oven  
  2. Whisk together the milk and eggs in a large shallow dish. Whisk the sugar with the cinnamon in a bowl.  
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add 1/2 tablespoon butter and swirl to coat the pan. Dip 2 slices of bread into the egg mixture and place in the skillet.  
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar on top and cook until the bottoms brown and crisp, about 3 minutes. Flip the toast adding butter to the pan if needed. And cook until golden, about 3 minutes more. Transfer the toast to the prepared baking sheet in the oven. Repeat with the remaining bread, batter and butter. Serve with maple syrup and strawberries,…strawberries optional ..enjoy
